Sirius has sent refresh signals to the car. My Sirius App on my phone works fine and shows an active subscription. Sirius referred me back to the dealership for a mechanical issue. As a woman, getting the service techs to understand the issue without actually making them sit in the car and going through the issue is impossible.
Some thoughts. If you decide to use a smartphone, you’re completely missing the only compelling feature of SiriusXM, which is the satellite feed. Anything else is just music/news/talk over the cellular network, which simply isn't available in many places. It just like comparing a stand-alone GPS receiver (Garmin, etc.) to Google or Apple Maps. The antenna is part of the trucks harness but the Sirius unplugs separates from the back of the info center with access from the glove box. Replaced with a two piece kit from Amazon $30.
