The X77 and H100 series are very similar feature wise. They both have the expanded number of drawbars for the manuals and pedals, similar percussion abilities, and pedal sustain. The H100 was a transistor/ tube model and completely self-contained, while the X77 was fully solid state and required a specially designed Leslie tone cabinet.
I own an X77 that is in great condition, but I need the Leslie X77L. I can't find one anywhere. Does anybody have a lead on one, or can you point me in the direction of a mod so I can run some other Leslie configuration? I have an L102 that has a stereo 1/4" out built into it and that allows me to plug pretty much into any amp. Would it be advisable to do that on the X77? ANY help would ...The drawbars in an X77 are different from other vintage Hammonds. Each drawbar connects to a thin copper band which in turn connects to a terminal where the drawbar's corresponding wire is soldered.
Hello all!! My name is nick and I have recently acquired a X77 with the tone cabinet. I am looking to converse with members who wouldnt mind helping me navigate my way through getting some sound out of the machine. So far when I plug it in and turn it on it does make a humming sound and i believe i can hear some organ sound.
In 2011 I purchased this one-owner X77 with X77L Leslie speaker from the family of a church organist. She purchased the organ new in 1971. When I purchased the organ it had some issues and by working with various subscribers to this forum, I was able to fix everything that bothered me then. The organ plays beautifully.
The X77 was intended by Hammond to be the pro successor to the B3. It is a tonewheel organ with more drawbars than a B3 offering greater harmonic richness and variation. It sounds no more like a church organ than any other Hammond. There is no foldback of the bass on the keyboards on an X77 which makes it superior for playing bass lines.
