Tough to beat for a dry fly rod but the length can be slightly challenging for nymphing on larger waters. 5 Weight - Sage X (590-4) - Really enjoy the touch of this rod given the power it provides. From my perspective, it was an upgrade from my old Sage One in the same size/weight - more versatile thanks to greater sensitivity in the tip.

For a long time that was all I used on my bamboo rods. But someone at the Metolius show turned me on to the Hardy Premium DRy Fly lines so I ordered a DT4 from Bruce Herndon up in Malo and I absolutely love it! I would give it a slight edge over the Cortland 444 Peach. I think the line has less stretch and less memory and lays out real nice.
Fly tyers can be masters at making things complicated! Poor quality materials and tools are destined to discourage beginner tiers and cause greater expense when the time comes to replace them.
