Hi. If a BM knife has the 'BK' designation, it has the 'BK1' blade coating. This stuff instantly scratches, if you use the knife. Ignoring the issue of "Why did I buy a coated blade?", if I buff all the BK1 off the blade, will the Benchmark Butterfly and metal designation (D2 in my case)...
Yes, axis-lock knives tend to have blade play if you want them to be smooth openers. It's more of a personal problem then a manufacturer's issue so I'd say the warranty probably shouldn't come into play, but you're more than welcome to try.
I'm debating on getting a "higher end" fixed blade for EDC. I am currently thinking of a Winkler or Half Face Blade. I'm open to other suggestions and opinions on these. Want to stay around the $300 range or lower. Winkler SD1 or the Half Face Blade Cavner Jr. Both are lighter weight with a 3" blade.

The blade steel is AUS10. We have been incredibly impressed! I sharpen once a week, and even then it is just a minor touch up. I just ordered another knife from the same company, with the same steel, again for about half off of retail. So this is only my experience with one knife, from one maker, but AUS10 has been extremely good to me!
