The FCI is based in Thuin, Belgium, and has 98 members and contract partners (one from each country). The FCI was founded in 1911 under the auspices of the kennel clubs of Austria, Belgium, France, Germany and the Netherlands.
FCI is the Global Representative Body for Factoring and Financing of Open Account Domestic and International Trade Receivables. With close to 400 member companies in 90 countries FCI offers a unique network for cooperation in cross-border factoring.

The Fédération Cynologique Internationale is the World Canine Organisation. It includes 101 members and contract partners (one member per country) that each issue their own pedigrees and train their own judges. The FCI has three sections:
FCI breeds recognised on a definitive basis are eligible for the CACIB (Certificat d’Aptitude au Championnat International de la FCI) and for the FCI titles (Winner of the World Dog Show, Winner of the Section Shows – Europe, Asia and the Pacific, Americas and the Caribbean).
