The early 24v and the 12v have room cast in the intake plenum to allow for the fit of the p-pump. On later motors, the intake plenum has been opened up quite a bit. A few options can be used here.

The injection pump has a special timing pin that is removed from the pump and then re inserted in the pump in the reverse way. The injection pump gear is pressed on but there is a key way on the shaft just they do not use a key hence the reason for all the timing marks and the timing pin on the injection pump.
Because chrisorbics's truck is stock and he knows how to watch his lift pump fuel pressure, a stock replacement pump should work just fine imo. I also recommend the frame rail mounting re-location.
