In 1963, the citizens of Rockingham County requested of the State Board of Education that a local community college be established. Since students first stepped into our classrooms in 1966, RCC has strived to serve, educate and train the community.
The first session of the Rockingham County Court met February 1786 at the home of Adam Tate near Eagle Falls on the Dan River. The court met at Tate's home until August 1787. The next term was held in the newly constructed courthouse in Wentworth. The minutes presented here were abstracted by a volunteer and are presented with the original grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
