It was interesting and enjoyable in its own quirky nostalgic way, but overall the service was inferior. It got along, and did okay, but you really had to want a trip down Memory Lane to look the other way with rose-colored glasses not to see the many failings. In point of fact, Amtrak did "make the trains worth traveling again" in many ways.
