I really like the way how one can define classes via the attrs library. In particular how the usual syntax of python class variables is hijacked to define instance variables. But is there a way to ...
attrs is the Python package that gives you a class decorator and a way to declaratively define the attributes on that class:. An example is given below:-
A possible idea for an implementation would be to create two magic attrs.parent_args() / attrs.parent_kwargs() identifiers that callers could place where they want, and if not given insert them implicitly at the head of the inheritor, to retain the current default behavior.
So, I just stumbled upon a hurdle concerning the use of attrs, which is quite new to me (I guess this also applies to dataclasses?). I have two classes, one I want to use as an attribute for another.
How should I pass a class as an attribute to another class with attrs?
I'm curious how attrs can be combined with abstract classes. I Want to define an abstract class, that defines abstract properties which every inheriting class must have.
MyPy is shipping an attrs plugin and attrs ships it own type stubs forever. So, pretty sure it’s the types-attrs package that is confusing it (note, that the latest version is from 2019), try uninstalling it.
The attrs library does generate an init method for the class it is decorating. However, metaclasses have a well defined signature to new and init methods, the arguments of which are filled in by the Python runtime itself, whenever a class statement is executed (along with its body, that is). I mean - it is the Python runtime that fills in the arguments " class, name, bases ...
For me what worked was to uninstall scrapy and attrs (pip uninstall scrapy attrs) and reinstalling scrapy. I didn't have to re-install attrs because scrapy ships with it's own version of attrs.
