Edelbrock I believe has a Performer air gap manifold, and a Performer RPM air gap. The difference being the regular performer is 1,000 - 5,500 and the RPM is 1,500 - 6,500 rpm range.

It seems as though the center coil pick up on the ignition module has a wider air gap. Now my question, what is the proper way to measure an ignition module air gap?

If your gap is 0.032" you probably don't have the correct rings for your 402 (4.125" + 0.030). Just my guess and the reason I always get file fit rings! I use this piston ring grinder from ABS Products.
